These SchoolCal Screenshots will give a brief overview of the various features:

The Main Tab contains the date pickers for the First & Last Days of School, Optional Event Location, Popup menu to select the iCal Calendar, and Done button:

The Vacations Tab gives you the option to create standard school vacation periods:

The Ignore checkboxes allow you to select which vacation(s) to NOT send to iCal:

The third Tab helps you generate dates for school Events other than the major vacations. You can create as many Event Titles as you like:

You can alter the name of any of the Events by clicking on the Edit Title button:
