There are three tabs to set your preferences. The General tab is explained on this page, please refer to the Main Tab and/or the Vacations Tab links for their respective discussions.

Everybody has different tastes about how they like their iCal Events to appear, and SchoolCal allows you express your vacation dates in any manner you wish. If you select the Individual All Day Events option, each day in the Vacation range is expressed as an individual Event, and your calendar will look like this in iCal:

On the other hand, if you choose Continuous All Day Events, this is the pattern you will see:

You can also choose your launch preference; depending on which radio button you have selected, SchoolCal will launch with the Main Tab view, or whichever Tab view was active at the last shutdown.
The final item simply tells SchoolCal whether or not you want to list any Read Only calendars already present in your database. If so, each Read Only calendar will contain the suffix (Read Only) immediately after its name (see Choosing iCal Calendars). If not, simply click the button next to No, and those calendars will not even be displayed in your calendar choice list.
